History of Hardy Amies

Sir Hardy Amies started out in 1934 as a designer of the House of Lachasse in London. By World War II, he had achieved a reputation as a world-class designer, his clothes bought by the luminaries of London society and by the major fashion houses in the United States. |
After the war, he opened on Savile Row and his reputation for design and fit grew. Since 1952, Sir Hardy has been " by Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen"- a royal warrant dress maker to Queen Elizabeth II, and member of the Royal Warrant Holders Association. |

He has been a leader in English name menswear since 1962. And in 1989, befitting a designer of his stature, he was made a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.
Hardy Amies clothes have appeared in numerous stage play and films, the most challenging of which was Stanley Kubrick's " 2001, A Space Odyssey"
Today Sir Hardy's flair for superior design extends far beyond clothes. He now applies his skill to travel goods and household articles, and as a telling index of his success, current international sales of the Hardy Amies label now top an annual $160 million.
